This policy explains how The Data School ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use https://thedataschool.in and its related services (the "Service"). We process personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Data we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and profile picture when you sign up, including via Google or GitHub sign-in.
- Waitlist sign-ups: the email address you submit and which form you used.
- Learning activity: course enrolments, lesson progress, quiz attempts and answers, code exercise submissions, and XP and streaks.
- Resume tool: the resume text, target role and job description you submit.
- Payments: order details and payment status. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store them.
- Device data: basic technical data such as browser type and pages visited, and preferences such as light or dark mode stored in your browser.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and deliver the courses you enrol in.
- To track your progress, show your XP and issue results.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To tell you when enrolment opens if you joined the waitlist.
- To improve the Service and keep it secure.
We do not sell your personal data.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed:
- Supabase for authentication and database hosting.
- Cloudflare for website hosting and delivery.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to, which process the text you submit to the resume tool in order to generate a response.
- Our payment processor, for paid courses.
Some of these providers may process data outside India.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as the colour theme. We do not use advertising cookies.
Retention
We keep account and learning data while your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until enrolment opens or you ask us to remove them. We keep payment records for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or raise a grievance by emailing dataschool.official@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
The Service is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top of this page, and tell you by email about any significant changes.
